a brighter future

My training with TLSE gave me more than just the practical skills to teach — it helped me grow in confidence and discover the kind of teacher I wanted to be. The support and encouragement from mentors and tutors were invaluable, and the balance of hands-on experience with reflection meant I always felt guided but also empowered to take initiative. TLSE’s focus on professional reflection has stayed with me; it taught me to look closely at what works, celebrate successes and keep developing my practice.
Since qualifying, I’ve taught in both Year 6 and Year 1, which has been a rewarding experience. Teaching across these very different year groups has given me a deep understanding of how children progress through the primary years and how to adapt my approach to meet their needs. The resilience and adaptability I built during my training have really helped me to thrive in both settings.
I’m now also a history subject lead, where I can support colleagues and help to shape learning across the school. The strong foundation TLSE gave me has supported me beyond my ECT years, giving me the skills, confidence and enthusiasm to keep growing and making a difference every day.
